The New York University women's tennis team won its second match of the spring season in a 9-0 victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) at home at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY, on Saturday, March 4.
NYU won all three doubles matchups and continued the winning streak into the singles round, winning all six.
The Violets dropped just two games in doubles. The teams of
Ida Krause/
Dakota Fordham (#1 doubles) and
Molly Heber/
Karina Jensrud (#2 doubles) each won their matches 8-0 while at third doubles RIT's Gabby Donohue and Abby Finchum won two games in their match against NYU's
Anastasiia Balyk and
Jimena Menendez (8-2).
NYU's women continued to excel in the singles round with clean sweeps at #2 singles (Jensrud) and #6 singles (
Lynn Robinson).
"The women played very well today," Assistant Coach Eric Halpern commented. "We had great focus throughout the match. Our team is looking good this year and we are off to a strong start."
The Violets will be back in action promptly on Sunday, March 5, when they will host New Jersey City University at 12:00pm.
