Three Violets notched two goals each as New York University's women's soccer team defeated Sarah Lawrence College, 7-0, on Monday night in Bronxville, NY.
Kelli Keady,
Alexa Buxbaum and
Jessica Tonthat scored two goals apeice as Keady has now scored eight goals in her last four games.
The Violets are now 8-1 on the season and are back in the win column after a narrow, 1-0 loss to Case Western Reserve University in the University Athletic Association (UAA) opener this past weekend.
Keady opened the scoring in the fourth minute, notching her eighth goal of the season on assists from
Rachel Kim and
Catie Collins.
Gabriella Funk then netted her eighth goal of the campaign eight minutes later to give NYU an early 2-0 advantage.
Buxbaum scored her first of the night in the 34th minute with a solo goal to make it 3-0 before securing her brace just four minutes later, again unassisted, to give the Violets a 4-0 halftime lead.
Keady wasted no time nabbing her brace in the second half, finding the back of the net in the 50th minute off an assist from Funk. Tonthat got in on the action in the 63rd before netting her second goal three minutes later, both unassisted, to complete the scoring.
NYU out-shot Sarah Lawrence 28-2 (17-1 shots on goal) with nine corner kicks as opposed to none for the Gryphons.
Riley Felsher saved the lone shot she saw on target to keep the clean sheet.
Next up for the Violets is a return to UAA action, taking on the University of Chicago on Saturday, October 7, in Chicago, IL.
