Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls to Washington

Late goal snaps Violets' three-game win streak

The #22-ranked New York University women's soccer team fell to #3-ranked Washington University 1-0 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) matchup on Saturday, October 14, in Newark, NJ.

The game was tied through the first 84 minutes, but the Bears' Grace Lehert scored the game's only goal at 84:42 after receiving a pass from Ella Koleno. Lehert dribbled into the box and went one-on-one with NYU goalkeeper Tyler Hawkins before sending it into the back of the net.

Each team had numerous chances throughout the contest, but WashU keeper Sidney Connor held NYU scoreless, making eight saves to Hawkins' three.

NYU held the advantage in shots 19-7, 8-4 on goal. Kelli Keady led NYU with five shots (four on goal).

The Violets also won out on corners 4-3.

The Bears remain undefeated this season, improving to 12-0, 3-0, while the Violets fell to 10-2, 1-2.

Both of NYU's UAA losses have been by identical 1-0 scores suffered on late-game goals (the other was to Case Western Reserve on September 30).

The Violets are right back on the pitch Friday, October 20, when they travel to face the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY, at 5:00 pm.
