New York University's men's soccer team opened the 2022 campaign in style with a 3-0 victory over Farmingdale State College on the road on Thursday night.
Bryce Lexow netted a brace while 2021 University Athletic Association (UAA) goals leader
Arkan Tahsildaroglu picked up where he left off last year with a goal in the win.
The Violets controlled this one throughout, outshooting FSC 25-6 while holding the Rams without a shot in the first half.
Tahsildaroglu opened the scoring with a tally in the 19th minute, finishing a pass from
Talal Said. The score remained 1-0 NYU at the half, but Lexow padded the lead in the 65th as he scored off an assist from Tahsildaroglu.
Lexow found the back of the net again six minutes later, this time with a helper from
Ben Trask for his first career assist.
NYU attempted six corner kicks as opposed to Farmingdale's one, while each side committed at least 12 fouls.
Chaz Bond made three saves as the Violets' starting goalkeeper.
Conor Dillon, making his collegiate debut, recorded a save as he played the last seven minutes of the game in net.
NYU will look to carry this momentum into their next match on Saturday, September 3, when they travel to Kings Point, NY, to take on United States Merchant Marine Academy. Kick off is scheduled for noon.
