#10 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Baruch

Violets Snare Road Win

The New York University Men's Volleyball Team, ranked #10 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), posted a straight-set victory at Baruch College on Tuesday, February 8, in Manhattan.

The Violets (3-3) defeated the Bearcats (1-5) by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-23.

NYU scored the first two points of the match, raced out to a 5-1 lead and never trailed in the opening set.

The second set was much tighter, as the teams were tied eight times. At 11-11, NYU scored the next two points and were able to maintain a lead the rest of the way.

The Violets led by as many as six points in the final set, but the Bearcats clawed back to within one at 24-23. However, a Baruch attack error clinched the win for NYU.

"It was a good win by our young men," said Head Coach José Piña. "We basically played an all, or mostly, first- year team and the young guys got to take a lot of repetitions in a match. It was a good team victory with multiple guys contributing. Buddy Cohen had a very strong match, as well as fellow freshmen Lucas OsieckiLuke Boyer and Zach Knudsen."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

- Osiecki and Boyer led NYU with eight kills each.

- Cohen had seven kills and hit .667.

- Ryan Li had a match-high 20 assists.

- Knudsen led the team with seven digs.

The Violets are back in action on Friday, February 11, at 7:00pm when they host Bard College at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility.
