The New York University Men's Basketball Team was defeated by the University of Rochester 75-65 on Friday, February 4. The University Athletic Association (UAA) contest was held at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY
The Violets (9-8, 0-7) trailed by as many as nine points in the opening half, but used an 18-8 run to take a 32-31 halftime lead.
NYU was ahead by two, 35-33, when Rochester (12-6, 4-4) scored the next seven points and never trailed again.
The Yellowjackets took a game-high 15-point lead, 59-44, with just under seven minutes to play. But, the Violets rallied to within seven, 61-54, on
Bobby Hawkinson's layup with 3:35 remaining.
However, they could not get any closer in suffering their seventh straight defeat.
HOOP STATS:
- Hawkinson scored a team-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting for the Violets.
Jacob Sussman (13, 5-of-7 FG, 3-of-4 3FG) and
Zay Freeney (11) also reached double-digits.
- Hawkinson led the team with five rebounds.

Nick Macarchuk recorded five steals and three assists.
- Rochester's Trent Noordsij scored a game-high 17 points.
The Violets return to action on Sunday, February 6, when they host
#20 Emory. Tipoff at St. Francis College is set for 12:00pm.
