The New York University women's soccer team remained undefeated in 2022 with a 3-1 victory over Stockton University on Wednesday, October 5, in Newark, NJ.
Hosting the Ospreys (5-6-1) on the campus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology in a non-conference game, the Violets (5-0-5) scored early in each half to solidify the victory.
Dominique Bevacqua's third goal of the season put NYU in front just 1:43 into the contest off an assist from
Amanda Mickwee. Less than 19 minutes later (19:26),
Tate Jordan tallied her fifth goal, supported by
Kelli Keady's assist (her team-co-leading 13th point of the season).
Leading 2-0 at the break, the Violets again came out blazing, this time with
Gabriella Funk scoring just over two minutes (47:15) into the second half. It was her fifth goal of the season as she also ran her point total to 13.
Rachel Kim was credited with the assist.
Stockton snapped the shutout when Heather Bertollo connected on an assist from Kendra Cirino with less than seven minutes to play (83:43).
Tyler Hawkins was in net for NYU in the first half, but did not face any shots on goal.
Riley Felsher played the second half, allowing the one goal and making one save.
Overall, the Violets out-shot the Ospreys 31-3 and 12-2 in shots on goal.
NYU returns to University Athletic Association (UAA) competition this Saturday. The Violets will host the Case Western Reserve University Spartans at 6:30pm at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
