The New York University Men's Basketball Team was defeated by Emory University 104-82 on Sunday, January 30, in Atlanta, GA.
The Violets (9-7, 0-6) remain winless in University Athletic Association (UAA) play this season, while the
#24-ranked Eagles are in first place at 6-1 (13-4 overall).
NYU took a 10-9 lead on
Zay Freeney's free throw with 13:48 left in the first half. However, Emory scored the next four points, took the lead for good and ended the half on a 48-26 run to take control of the contest.
The Violets were unable to get any closer the rest of the way.
"For the first seven minutes we executed our defensive game plan to a 'T'," said Head Coach
Dagan Nelson. "For the next 33 minutes we ran into an offense buzzsaw."

Bobby Hawkinson tied his career high with 32 points, while adding 11 rebounds and three assists. He has recorded 13 double-doubles this season, including in 10 of his last 11 games.

Cinque Stephens scored a career-best 13 points for the Violets.

The Violets return to action next Friday, February 5, when they host the University of Rochester at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm.
