The New York University men's basketball team was defeated by Emory University 99-81 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) game on Friday, February 14, in Atlanta, GA.
Emory (18-3, 8-2) scored the first five points of the game and never looked back.
NYU (8-13, 1-9) fell behind early in the contest and trailed by as many as 20 points in the first half.
Emory was ahead 50-34 at halftime.The Violets never got closer than 11 points in the second half.
Bobby Hawkinson (Frankfort, IL/Marist) led the Violets with a game-high 22 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Ethan Feldman (New York, NY/The Salisbury School) (15) and
Jaden Narwal (Vancouver, Canada/Collingwood School) (11) also scored in the double figures for NYU.
Matt Devet and Matthew Schner led the Eagles with 16 points each. Lawrence Rowley helped Emory pull away in the second half with 14 points.
The Eagles shot 56.25% (18-of-32) in the second half and eventually coasted to the double-digit victory.
The Violets now head to Rochester, NY, for a game against The University of Rochester on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 12:00pm.
