The New York University men's tennis team wrapped up the final day of play at the Lions Fall Kickoff Tournament, hosted by The College of New Jersey, on Sunday, September 8, in Ewing, NJ.
As they did on Saturday, NYU and TCNJ student-athletes went head-to-head in both singles and doubles. The Violets won six of the nine singles matches, while TCNJ won three of four in doubles.
In singles,
Christian Otero (Miami, FL/Gulliver Prep),
Joshua Piatos (Irvine, CA/University),
Rahul Das (Marietta, GA/George Walton Comprehensive), and
Stefan Rodic (Belgrade, Serbia/Washington International School (Washington D.C.)) all won in straight sets.
Lucas Biondi (Purchase, NY/Rye Country Day School) played two different TCNJ opponents, beating each in one set.
In doubles, Otero and
Alex Yang (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro ) secured the Violets' lone doubles victory.
"We showed noticeable improvement today across the board," said Assistant Coach
Eric Halpern. "We found a successful new doubles pairing in Christian and Alex. We are looking forward to the next week of practice."
The squad returns to the court on Saturday, September 14, at the Stevens Invitational at Mercer County Park in Pennington, NJ.
