The New York University women's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over visiting Farmingdale State College on Wednesday, September 25, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
The Violets and Rams were locked 0-0 through the first half of play. In the first 45 minutes, Farmingdale goalkeeper Daniella Ford saved all three shots she faced.
NYU's lone goal was scored by Julia Raith (Rutherford, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) in the 77th minute off of a feed from Francesca Dimitrakis five feet out to secure the victory. NYU out-shot Farmingdale 9-5 and 7-1 in shots on goal.
"Ashlyn Krygowski and Julia really stepped up their game today," said Head Coach Michelle Canning. "They were both so good on both sides of the field today and that energy filtered to the rest of the team."
NYU goalkeeper Meghan Marhan (Glen Ridge, NJ/Glen Ridge) needed to record only one save in recording the shutout in net.
The Violets will be right back on the field this Sunday, September 29, when they host Mount Saint Mary College at noon at Gaelic Park.
