Baseball Splits Final Two Games at Brandies

Violets Win Game One 12-2 as Cammisuli Improves to 7-1

The New York University baseball team split the final two games of a four-game University Athletic Association (UAA) series at Brandeis University on Sunday, April 21, at Victory Field in Watertown, MA.

NYU (19-10, 5-7 UAA) took game one 12-2 in seven innings, before dropping the series finale 8-3 to the Judges (13-17, 1-11 UAA).

Sal Cammisuli went the distance on the mound in game one for the Violets and earned the victory to imrprove to 7-1 this season. The junior scattered six hits and struck out three, while not walking a batter and only allowing a pair of earned runs.

Offensively, the Violets were led by Lubbock, TX, natives Jack Walter and Colman Hendershot, who each had three hits in game one. Coltrane Tait also had a great game at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run and a game-best three RBI.

The Violets struggled offensively in the game two loss, not scoring a run until there were two outs in the ninth. Nick Loffredo singled home the first run, before a two-run home run from Zane Baker made the final score 8-3.

Freshmen JP Maniscalco and John Gassler combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen in the loss.

The Violets return to action on Tuesday, April 23, when they travel to Newark, NJ, to take on Rutgers University-Newark at 4pm.
