The New York University baseball team defeated St. Joseph's College - Brooklyn 6-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday, April 17, at MCU Park in Brooklyn.
NYU's win was its third straight and the squad is now 16-7 on the season, while St. Joseph's is now 11-17-1.
Eight different pitchers took the mound for the Violets and didn't disappoint, combining for nine strikeouts and allowing just five hits.
Ford Ladd started the game for NYU and earned the win to improve to 6-2, while
Aaron Ackerman and
Zach Cohen each struck out a pair of Bears.
Sal Cammisuli was the only Violet to pitch more than an inning, tossing a pair of shutout innings in the victory.
Jack Elias' RBI single scored
Ryan McLaughlin to put NYU ahead 1-0 in the first inning. The Violets doubled their lead in the fourth on an RBI-double off the bat of
Coltrane Tait and added a pair of insurance runs in each of the fitth and sixth innings.
McLaughlin led the Violets with two hits, while
Grant Berman reached base three times, twice by walking and once with a single.
NYU returns to the diamond on Friday when it travels to Waltham, MA, to take on Brandeis University in University Athletic Association action.
