The New York University baseball team won its third-straight game, defeating the City College of New York 17-4 on a rainy, windy Sunday, March 31, at MCU Park in Brooklyn.
NYU scored in each of the first four innings to cruise to another victory and improve to 13-3 this season. CCNY saw its overall record drop to 6-9.
Colman Hendershot and
Austin Stenstedt each recorded three hits to lead the offense. Hendershot, who hit a home run and had a triple in the win, was one of five Violets to score multiple runs, while Stenstedt followed up his 5-RBI performance on Thursday with a game-high three RBI.
Gabriel Golob struck out a career-high-tying six hitters in 5.0 innings of work to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Zach Cohen and
Paul Gadaleta each pitched scoreless innings of relief in the seven-inning contest.
Although NYU only came up to the plate six times, the squad tallied 19 hits, which is its second-most of the season.
The Violets return to the diamond when they continue their seven-game homestand with their University Athletic Association (UAA) opener on Friday, April 5, against Case Western Reserve University. First pitch against the Spartans is slated for 3pm back at MCU Park.
