The New York University baseball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead after two innings and coasted to a 11-3 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday, March 28, at MCU Park in Brooklyn.
NYU remained undefeated at home through seven games at MCU Park and is now 12-3 on the season, while the Dolphins' record is now 7-7.
Austin Stenstedt knocked in a game-high five runs, three of which came on a bases-clearing triple in the first inning as the Violets raced out to a 6-0 lead.
In the second inning, NYU added four more runs on a two-RBI single off the bat of
Zane Baker and a pair of RBI-baseknocks from
Colman Hendershot and Stenstedt.
Sal Cammisuli started on the mound for NYU and allowed one run while striking out seven hitters in five innings of work to improve to 3-1 on the season. The junior pitcher now has a 1.27 ERA in 21.1 innings pitched this season, which is the best among the Violets' starting rotation.
Five different NYU batters finished the contest with two hits, including senior
Nicholas Villanueva, who now has hits in his last five plate appearances.
The Violets return to action on Sunday, March 31, when they host the City College of New York back at MCU Park at 12pm.
