Men's Volleyball Win in Straight Sets at Sage

Violets Improve to 5-1 in UVC Action

The New York University men's volleyball team traveled to Albany, NY, on Saturday, March 2, and defeated The Sage Colleges in straight sets (26-24, 25-20, 26-24) to earn its third-straight United Volleyball Conference victory.

NYU is now 5-1 in UVC action and 8-6 on the season, while the host Gators dropped to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in UVC matches.

"We played hard and pulled off another UVC win," said Head Coach Jose Pina. "It was nice to play a few of the guys who haven't seen much time this season, too."

Evan Lindley and Neil Ferraro once again led the way for NYU, recording 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Lindley's only committed three errors in 21 attempts (.467), while Ferraro's had just one in 13 attempts (.769).

"Evan and Neil had very strong hitting matches," added Pina.

Lindley and Ferraro's efforts helped lead the Violets to a .427 attacking percentage, which was a season-best. Ryan Whealen was a big reason for the quality offensive performance as he was NYU's primary setter on Saturday and dished out 43 assists.

The Violets return to action on Saturday, March 9, when they host Springfield College at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility. First serve is slated for 3pm.
