After defeating Oswego State earlier in the day, the New York University softball team returned to the field and posted a victory against Messiah College 4-2 on Monday, March 18, in Plant City, FL.
The Violets (4-2) defeated the Falcons (4-6) for the second time during their Florida trip, having also beaten them 11-6 on Saturday, March 16.
In Monday's win,
Maggie Swan earned her second victory of the season, giving up two unearned runs in 6.1 innings.
Cassi Parulis picked up the save by retiring the two batters she faced.
"Maggie threw very well today," said Head Coach
Now-Allah James. "I'm excited to see her develop as she gains experience throughout the season."
The Violets scored their first run on
Ashley Mains' single in the third inning and then took the lead for good in a three-run fourth.
Diana King and
Serena Ponciano each knocked in a run in the frame.
Mains finished the game 3-for-4. King had two hits and a stolen base, while Ponciano and
Kalena Paredes also finished with two knocks.
The squad is back in action on Wednesday, March 20 (first day of summer) when they'll face Babson College in a doubleheader starting at 11:00am in Plant City.
