Team Results
The New York University women's swimming and diving team won the NYU Fall Invitational with 462.5 points, defeating Princeton University (217), the Stevens Institute of Technology (191) and Drew University (186.5) in a meet held on Friday and Saturday, November 8-9, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan. .
Top performers for the Violets on Saturday included the 400-yard freestyle relay team of
Honore Collins (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township),
Jessica Flynn (Charlotte, NC /Charlotte Latin School),
Sydney Catron (Alexandria, VA/Bishop O'Connell), and
Victoria Saliba (River Edge, NJ/River Dell). The foursome placed first with a time of 3:36.43. Flynn also captured the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (53.77), while Catron won the 200-yard backstroke event with a time of 2:07.12.
In the 1,650-yard freestyle,
Ashley Brodnick (Raleigh, NC/Leesville Road) finished first with her time of 17:35.2. She also won the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 2:07.12.
"The team has been working really hard this season to prepare to swim fast in a few weeks at Ithaca," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "This meet was a big part of our preparation, and I was really happy with their effort and results."
In the diving events, NYU's
Carmen White (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) swept both boards, scoring 290.55 (1-meter) and 265.55 (3-meter), respectively.
"Carmen won both boards and had a great performance, especially over a strong Ivy league program," said Head Diving Coach
Todd Kolean. "She has impressed in her senior year both on the boards and on the pool deck."
The Violets return to action on Saturday, November 23. The diving team will be participating at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Open in Kings Point, NY, while the swimming team will host Johns Hopkins University at the Palladium Athletic Facility.
