Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest

Violets Fall to Emory in Atlanta

The New York University women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Emory University in a University Athletic Association (UAA) matchup on Sunday, November 3, in Atlanta, GA.

Following their penultimate game of the 2019 regular season, the Violets are now 11-6 overall and 2-4 in the UAA. The Eagles, winners of five straight games, are now 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the UAA.

Sunday's game was scoreless after the first half, but Emory's Samantha Hilsee broke the 0-0 deadlock on an unassisted goal at the 61:36 mark.

That goal opened the floodgates for the Eagles, who scored twice more before the end of the game. First it was Natalie Klar on an assist from Kylie Hall at 74:22, then Paige Santee on another assist from Hall to cap the scoring at 85:38.

The Violets were out-shot 17-6 overall and 9-2 in shots on goal.

Haley Pratt recorded the shutout in net for Emory, while Meghan Marhan (Glen Ridge, NJ/Glen Ridge) made five saves in suffering the loss for NYU.

NYU plays its final game of the regular season on Saturday, November 9, when the squad faces Brandeis University in a UAA contest at 12:00pm in Waltham, MA.
