Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie

Violets and Emory Finish 0-0 in Atlanta

The New York University and Emory University men's soccer teams played 110 scoreless minutes in their University Athletic Association (UAA) matchup on Sunday, November 3, in Atlanta, GA.

The Violets (7-6-2, 3-2-1 UAA) out-shot the Eagles (9-5-3, 2-2-2) 9-8. Four of NYU's shots landed on goal, while Emory was not able to put one shot on net.

"We demonstrated a lot of heart and grit coming off a tough loss on Friday to bounce back and get a point against a tough opponent," said Head Coach Kim Wyant. "We went deep into our bench using every player and all made important contributions in the match."

Nick Vafiadis (Englewood, NJ/Bergen Catholic) was in goal for NYU, but was untested in securing the shutout. Max Carlson saved all four shots he faced for the Eagles.

Sergio Monton (Madrid, Spain/Fundacion Fomento) led the Violets with three shots, one of which landed on goal.

"Pablo and Louis had exceptional games, as did Isaiah, Steve and Jake on defense," Wyant added.

NYU returns to UAA action on Saturday, November 9, when they squad faces Brandeis University in another UAA game at 2:30pm in Waltham, MA. That will end the 2019 regular season for the Violets.
