Men's Basketball Defeated by #21 Rochester

Violets Suffer 71-55 Road Loss

The New York University men's basketball team was defeated 71-55 by the University of Rochester in University Athletic Association (UAA) action on Friday, January 25, in Rochester, NY.

The Yellowjackets, who came into the game ranked 21st by d3hoops.com, improved to 14-3 on the season and 4-2 in UAA play, while the Violets dropped to 6-11 overall and remain winless through six UAA contests.

Rochester scored the first bucket of the game which was followed up by an Alex Casieri basket to tie the contest at 2-2. The hosts answered with a three-pointer and never looked back, leading the rest of the way.

The Yellowjackets led 34-25 at halftime and opened their lead up to a game-high 20, 51-31, on a layup from Ryan Clamage with 11:30 to play.

NYU cut the margin to 11 on a three-pointer from Noah Fennell with just under three minutes to play, but that would be as close as the Violets could get before Rochester pulled away to win by the 16-point margin.

Clamage scored 17 points to lead all players, while Casier was NYU's leader with nine.

The Violets return to the court on Sunday, when they travel to Atlanta, GA, to take on Emory University in another UAA contest. Tip-off against the Eagles is slated for 12pm.
