Official Meet Results
The New York University women's swimming & diving team went 1-1 against opponents Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Williams College on Friday, January 18, in Cambridge, MA.
The Violets (3-3), ranked #4 in the nation in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Poll, defeated host #7 MIT 152-148, but fell to the #6-ranked Ephs 190.5-107.5.
"Today's meet against two of the top teams in the nation provided us with great competition," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "This was great preparation for UAA and NCAA Championships ahead."
Three Violets claimed victories on Friday.
Rachel Reistroffer captured the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 17:33.33. She also placed third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.18).
Another winner for NYU was
May Li, who finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.21. Not far behind was teammate
Emily Fung, who posted a runner-up time of 58.70.
The Violets' other champion was
Carmen White, who captured the three-meter dive with 295.85 points. She also placed third in the one-meter dive with a total score of 267.
"I thought the team raced really well today," Miele continued. "I was happy with the performance."
The Violets are back in action on Friday, February 8, to host the NYU Invitational at the Palladium Athletic Facility Natatorium.
The Violets compete again tomorrow, Saturday, January 19, against Ursinus College on family day.
