The New York University women's soccer team scored nine first-half goals en route to a 15-0 victory over the City College of New York on a misty Wednesday evening, September 12, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
The offensive performance set a new NYU record for most goals in a game, topping the previous record of 11, which was set twice, in 1996 and 2000, respectively.
NYU (3-2-0) got three goals from
Tori Bianco and a pair each from
Alex Benedict and
Jade Keane in the first half as they out-shot the Beavers (3-2-0) 19-0 in the opening 45 minutes.
Keane added a tally in the second half to join Bianco in notching a hat trick.
Also scoring multiple goals for the Violets was Isabella de Almagro, while
Ellie Marks and
Lila Keltz each found the back of the net for the first ime in their respective careers. Keltz also added three assists, as did
Maddie Peña.
Meghan Marhan and
Michaela Brickley combined for NYU's second shutout of the season. Brickley made a pair of saves, while Marhan didn't face a shot on goal.
The Violets return to action on Tuesday, September 18, when they travel to Scranton, PA, to take on the University of Scranton at 7pm.
