Men's Basketball Falls at Case Western

Violets Return to Action Friday vs. Chicago at the Sportsplex

The New York University men's basketball team was defeated by host Case Western Reserve University 73-57 at Adelbert Gymnasium on Sunday, February 4, in Cleveland, OH.

NYU dropped to 10-9 on the season and 3-6 in UAA in action, while the Spartans won their fifth-straight game to improve to 12-8 overall and 6-3 in Association play.

Case Western Reserve broke the game open with a 13-0 run, which included three-straight three-pointers, to go ahead by 17 early in the second half. The Spartans made just one of seven from long range in the first 20 minutes, but came out of the locker room on fire, draining four of their first six from deep.

NYU was never able to come back from the large second half deficit, which the hosts extended to as many as 25 on a pair of occasions.

Case Western Reserve was led by TJ Duckett, who scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.

Ethan Feldman scored 11 to lead the Violets, while Jimmy Martinelli took down a team-best 12 rebounds.

NOTABLES:

- Case Western Reserve shot 16-for-18 (88.9%) from the foul line, while the Violets were just 2-for-6 (33.3%).

- Jule Brown dished out five assists to lead NYU.

- Noah Fennell, who entered Sunday with eight career points, scored nine on three three-pointers.

- The Violets were outrebounded for the seventh-straight game as the Spartans held a 41-33 advantage in that category.

NYU returns to the court on Friday, February 9, when it hosts the University of Chicago. Tip-off at the Sportsplex is slated for 8pm.
