The New York University women's soccer team defeated host Case Western Reserve University 2-0 in University Athletic Association (UAA) action on Saturday, October 6, in Cleveland, OH.
NYU (6-4-1, 2-0-0 UAA) posted its fourth-straight shutout in the victory as goalkeeper
Meghan Marhan turned away all three of Case Western Reserve's (6-5-0, 0-0-2 UAA) shots on goal.
Isabelle Turner provided all of the Violets' offense on Saturday, scoring a pair of goals less than four minutes apart early in the contest.
Turner's first goal came when she headed in a pass from
Julia Raith in the 11th minute and her second was an unassisted tally that came after she corralled an unsettled ball in the box and shot it past CWRU goalkeeper Lauren Metz in the 14th minute. The goals were the fifth and sixth of the season for Turner, a junior from Fort Lauderdale, FL.
NYU out-shot the Spartans 15-9 on the afternoon, including 10-3 in shots on target.
Maddie Peña led the Violets with four of those shots on goal.
The Violets return to action on Friday, October 12, when they host UAA-foe Emory University at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY. Kickoff against he Eagles is slated for 8:30pm.
