Men's Soccer Wins Non-Conference Finale

Violets Defeat Lehman 2-0

The New York University men's soccer team defeated visiting Lehman College 2-0 on Saturday, October 20, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

The win was NYU's 11th of the season (11-3-0), which is the most wins since the 2014 team finished 11-7-1. Lehman dropped to 6-9-1 following Saturday's loss.

NYU kept its opponent off the scoreboard for the eighth time this season as Grant Engel (one save) and Andrew Ashley (three saves) combined for the clean sheet.

Santiago Huertas opened the scoring in Saturday's win, finding the back of the net for the first time this season just more than four minutes into the second half. Huertas's goal was assisted by Alexander Dano.

NYU's leading goal scorer, Oliver Kleban, doubled the Violets' lead to 2-0 later in the half when he took a pass from Robert Shellow and fired it past Lehman goalkeeper Chris Mullohand. Kleban's goal was his seventh of the season.

Mullohand made seven saves in the losing effort as the Violets dominated play, outshooting the Lightning 17-4.

NYU returns to action on Friday when it travels to Chicago, IL, to take on University Athletic Association (UAA) foe University of Chicago at 5:30pm central time.
