The New York University women's soccer team played Rutgers University-Newark to a scoreless draw on Tuesday, October 2, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
The contest between NYU (5-4-1) and Rutgers-Newark (5-5-2) was called in the 89th minute due to thunderstorms in the area.
NYU controlled the majority of the game, outshooting the Scarlet Raiders 17-6 overall and 9-4 in shots on target.
The Violets were unable to solve Rutgers-Newark goalkeeper Heidi Paulson, who saved all nine of NYU's shots on goal.
Meghan Marhan, the Violets' goalkeeper, posted a shutout of her own, saving all four opportunities she faced. It was Marhan's third-straight shutout.
NYU's best opportunity of the game came in the 24th minute when a shot from
Maddie Peña got past Paulson, but hit off the crossbar.
The Violets return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Cleveland for their first road University Athletic Association (UAA) contest of the season against Case Western Reserve University. Kickoff against the Spartans is slated for 1:30pm.
