The New York University men's soccer team suffered a tough, double overtime loss to visiting University of Rochester in University Athletic Association (UAA) action on Sunday, October 14, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
Rochester, ranked 11th in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll, improved to 10-1-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in UAA play, while the Violets are now 10-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in UAA play.
Patrice Douge scored the game's only goal in the 105th minute, firing a shot from the top corner of the box past NYU goalkeeper
Grant Engel and inside the far post.
Oliver Kleban had NYU's best chance of the afternoon late in the second half, when he took a shot that was saved by Rochester goalkeeper Patrick Conway and then bounced off the post.
Conway saved all four chances on target to earn the shutout, while Engel made one save and the NYU defense made a pair of team saves to keep the Yellowjackets from scoring.
The Violets will look to get back into the win column on Saturday, October 20, when they host Lehman College. Kickoff is slated for 12:30pm back at Gaelic Park.
