Diana King's hitting and
Scarlett Murphy's pitching led the New York University softball team to a 7-3 win over Hamilton College on Monday, March 13, at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg, FL.
King led off the game with a home run and the Violets (2-1) never trailed. She later added a two-run single, a walk and a stolen base to her offensive production.
Meanwhile, Murphy was dealing on the mound, allowing Hamilton (0-2) only one earned run and striking out five before being relieved after 6.1 innings.
Olivia Mould recorded the final two outs for the save.
Dakota Damiani and
Ashley Mains each contributed two hits for the Violets. Damiani also drove in a run.
The Violets return to action later today when they face Richard Stockton University, also at the Sleepy Hollow Complex. First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
