Women's Soccer Shuts Out Stockton

Violets Run Unbeaten Streak to Five (4-0-1)

The New York University women's soccer team improved its season-high unbeaten streak to five as it defeated host Stockton University 2-0 on Thursday, October 19, in Galloway, NJ.

NYU (9-3-2) scored a goal in each half and held Stockton (7-10-1) to one shot on goal en route to its eighth shutout of the season.

Ashlyn Krygowski scored the Violets' first goal in the 33rd minute, deflecting a shot off a defender and past Osprey goalkeeper Nicole Pallante. It was the sophomore's second tally of the season and third of her career.

NYU maintained its one-goal lead until Marquel Love found the back of the net with just four minutes remaining in the contest. Love scored after Pallante came out of the net and missed the ball.

Sophia Danielsen saved the lone Osprey shot on goal early in the second half to preserve her fourth shutout in eight starts. Danielsen is 5-2-1 as the Violets' goalkeeper this season.

Pallante made five saves to help keep the Ospreys in the game.

Fast Facts:

- Alex Benedict led all players with four shots, three of which were saved by Pallante. Benedict, a sophomore and the team leader in points, saw her four-game point streak come to an end.

- The Violets are now 7-2-1 in non-conference games this season.

- Six Violets - Benedict, Love, Maddie Howard, Sharon LeeNalani Ogawa, and Isabelle Turner - have started all 14 games this season.

- This was NYU's third victory over the Ospreys in the last two seasons as it defeated Stockton 1-0 during the 2016-17 regular season and 3-2 in the opening round of the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament.

The Violets return to action on Monday, October 23, when they host Centenary University in their final non-conference game of the regular season. Kickoff is slated for 7pm at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
