The New York University men's soccer team opened its University Athletic Association (UAA) weekend by falling to Emory University 5-0 on Friday, October 13, in Atlanta, GA.
The Violets (7-4-1, 0-3 UAA) fell behind early as the Eagles' Jason McCartney scored just 9:23 into the contest. That goal was followed by three more Emory tallies in the first half as the session ended 4-0 in favor of the home team.
Emory (10-2, 3-0) managed one more goal in the second half, this one by Christian Meyer at 62:52.
For the game, Emory outshot NYU 18-3 overall and 10-1 in shots on goal.
"Too many individual mistakes and not enough leadership on the field," said Head Coach
Kim Wyant.
Grant Engel played the entire game in net for the Violets and made five saves.
Nic Notaro had NYU's lone shot on goal.
The Violets return to the field this Sunday, October 15, when they face the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. Kickoff is set for 11:00am.
