The New York University men's soccer team defeated The College of Mount Saint Vincent by a score of 3-0 at Marillac Field in Riverdale, NY, on Wednesday, September 14.
David Victor opened the scoring for the Violets at 36:26 when he directed an
Owen Smith cross past the Dolphin keeper.
Nic Notaro doubled NYU's advantage at 67:59 when he tapped in a
Julian Montilus cross before capping the victory with another goal seven minutes later.
"Nic and Julian were very effective up top with several key runs in behind," said Head Coach
Kim Wyant. "Overall we did a much better job in the final third today, and we were able to find our players with the final pass."
Goalkeepers
Grant Engel and
Lucas Doucette along with the back line of
Richie Cornell,
Deniz Oncu,
Matthew Guitard,
Jax Hindmarch, and
Gregory Suter maintained the Violets' first shutout of the season.
"Grant made two key saves in the first half and Lucas made one in the second half to keep us ahead," explained Wyant. "The entire back line also deserves a lot of credit for the shutout."
The squad returns to action Wednesday, September 21, when they take on New Jersey City University in Jersey CIty, NJ.
