New York University's men's soccer team was defeated by Hunter College by a score of 2-1 on Saturday, September 10, in a road contest on Randall's Island in Manhattan.
The Violets fell behind early as Hunter's Aiden Tucker scored at 5:54. The Hawks doubled their lead at 79:14 when Brandon Fiscina capitalized on a Violet defensive error.
"Our play was not up to the standards of NYU," said Head Coach
Kim Wyant. "Too many players were simply along for the ride today. Our attacking play in the final third lacked creativity and hunger for the goal."
The Violets halved their deficit when
Petter Aasa slotted home a penalty kick at 82:06.
"
Inder Sharma and
Ricardo Mitrano were out due to injury and
Drew Enyedi was out sick, so we were missing three of our impact players today," explained Wyant. "We really lacked a sense of urgency."
NYU returns to the pitch tomorrow at 12:00 pm when the Violets take on SUNY-Old Westbury in Old Westbury, NY.
