The New York University women's soccer team defeated University Athletic Association (UAA) foe University of Rochester by a score of 2-1 on Friday, October 28, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
Lexi Clarke put the Violets (10-3-3, 1-2-2 UAA) ahead after 13 minutes with a curling shot off of an
Ashlyn Krygowski assist.
NYU maintained the lead for over 40 minutes before Jorie Frietag found space on the right side and slotted past
Cassie Steinberg to equalize.
The Violets kept on attacking and were rewarded with 10 minutes remaining when
Alex Benedict cut in from the left wing and fired past the Rochester keeper from 20 yards out to put NYU ahead for good.
"We did a good job of executing the game plan, both offensively and defensively," said Head Coach
Michele Canning. "In the style that we play we rely on everyone's performance, and we had two great goals from Lexi and Alex today."

- Rochester outshot NYU 13-7 and had a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.
