The New York University women's soccer team defeated Centenary College 3-0 on Monday, October 24, in Hackettstown, NJ.
The Violets are now 9-3-3 this season, while the Cyclones fell to 8-8.
NYU got off to a quick start, as
Teressa Fazio scored on a cross from
Marquel Love just 5:21 into the game.
Love took matters into her own hands (or, make that feet) for the second goal, taking a pass from
Maddie Pena and putting it into the lower left corner of the net at the 13:30 mark.
The scored remained 2-0 until Pena scored off an assist from Fazio early in the second half (49:29).
"We did a really good job of pressuring the ball and staying organized throughout the game," said NYU Head Coach
Michele Canning.
Cassie Steinberg played the first half in net for NYU and recorded two saves.
Michaela Brickley took over for the second half and did not face any shots as the pair combined for the shutout.
