Men's Soccer Wins 10-0 at York (NY)

Violets Record Second-Straight Shutout Victory

The New York University men's soccer team defeated host York College (NY) 10-0 on Sunday, October 23, at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY.

NYU improved to 7-6-2 on the season. Its 10 goals were the most scored since a 15-0 victory over New York City Tech on September 16, 2006.

"I am very happy we were able to get back-to-back wins and shutouts for the first time this season," said NYU Head Coach Kim Wyant. "We were able to get every player on the field today and have multiple goal scorers.

The Violets scored five goals in each half and outshot the Cardinals 42-2. Lucas Doucette, Grant Engel and Alex Hughes all saw action at goalkeeper for NYU and combined for the squad's second-consecutive shutout.

Offensively, eight different players scored for the Violets, including senior captain Bryan Walsh and freshman Drew Enyedi, who each found the back of the net twice.

Inside the Box Score:

- Michael Cheaney and David Victor each scored a goal and added an assist in the win.

- Enyedi led the Violets with eight shot attempts, including three on target.

- Walsh took three shots, all of which were on goal.

- The Violets scored four goals in a period of 5:01 starting late in the opening half and ending early in the second half.

- Cheaney, Simone Kanter, Robert Shellow and Julian Montilus all recorded their first career goals in Sunday's win.

"Our remaining schedule will be much more challenging with a few nationally-ranked teams," added Wyant. "With that said, we are implementing many of the items we are working on in practice and it has resulted in progress on the field."

The Violets will be back in action on Friday, October 28, when they host #12 University of Rochester in University Athletic Association action. Kickoff against the Yellowjackets is scheduled for 1:30pm at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
