The New York University men's soccer team fell 4-0 to host and 10th-ranked Washington University - St. Louis in University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Friday, October 14, in St. Louis, MO.
With the loss, NYU falls to 5-5-2 on the season and 1-2-0 in UAA action.
WashU (8-1-1, 1-1-1 UAA) set the tone early, scoring its first goal just over one minute into the contest. NYU goalkeeper
Lucas Doucette saved a penalty kick but the Bears' Ike Witte was able to corral the rebound and put it past Doucette for his fourth goal of the season. The hosts doubled their lead at the 14:35 mark when Nick Politan took a long pass from Corey Meehan and deposited into the back of the net.
Six minutes into the second half Politan hit Grant Baltes with a pass and Baltes took a shot off the crossbar which deflected off an NYU defender and went in to make the score 3-0. The final WashU goal of the contest came at 80:54 when Camillo Haller scored his first goal of the season. Haller's unassisted tally came from about 30 yards out.
Doucette made three saves for NYU. The Violets had one shot on goal in the contest, which came off the foot of senior captain
Bryan Walsh.
NYU will be back in action on Sunday, October 16, when it continues its UAA Midwest road trip at #2 University of Chicago. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30pm (central).
