The New York University women's volleyball team lost both matches on the first day of competition at the Hawks Invitational on Friday, September 11, in New Paltz, NY.
The Violets (3-5) began with a four-set loss (27-25, 25-18, 26-28, 25-21) to the Fredonia State University Blue Devils (6-0).
NYU's second match was also a 3-1 loss (23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 26-24), this time to host SUNY New Paltz.
"Despite the losses, there were a lot of positives to take away from today's play," said Head Coach
Jolie Ward. "The chemistry on the court continues to grow every match, and we look forward to continuing that trend."
MATCH ONE HIGHLIGHTS: -
Brooke Tannahill finished the match with 28 digs.

Alexis Jackson notched eight kills and 15 digs.

Nicole Frias and
Celine Das each had seven kills.
MATCH TWO HIGHLIGHTS: - Frias tallied 10 kills.
- Tannahill had 24 digs and four aces.

Daryl Mitchell finished with 31 assists.
The Violets are back in action on Saturday, September 12, at 11:00 am against The Sage Colleges to begin day two of the Invitational. They then face Mt. St. Mary College at 1:00 pm.
