The New York University women's swimming & diving team defeated The College of New Jersey by a score of 207-87 on Saturday, November 14, at the Palladium Athletic Facility, in Manhattan.

Junior Elise Gibbs was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.50) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.98). She also anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:48.95), which also included freshman May Li, sophomore Isabelle Kitze, and senior Krista Traub.

"The women's team swam extremely well today," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "I was really impressed with their performance."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Kitze also won the 100-yard backstroke (58.87) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.71).

- Freshman Noel Leung was victorious in two individual events: the 50-yard freestyle (24.62) and the 100-yard butterfly (59.04).

- Junior Nia Sorgente won the three-meter competition (267.23) and placed third in the one-meter contest (262.42). Sorgente recorded NCAA National qualifying scores in both events. Freshman Kelly Ryser, who finished second in the one-meter, recorded her first-career NCAA National qualifying score (266.62).

"It was a great day for the women," said Diving Coach Scott Donie. "We added in a lot of new dives, and it's great to gain some competitive experience with them."

The next competition for the Violets will take place on Saturday, November 21, in Poughkeepsie, NY, against Vassar College at 1:00 pm.
