The New York University women's volleyball team lost both matches on day one of the NY Region Challenge on Friday, October 30, in Rochester, NY.
The Violets (13-16) began with a 3-0 loss (27-25, 25-15, 25-16) to the Rochester Institute of Technology (20-17).
NYU fought point-for-point in set one. Neither team held a lead of more than two points, but the Violets fell short.
Nicole Frias led the team in kills, totaling nine for the match.
NYU's second match was a 3-2 loss (21-25, 12-25, 26-24, 25-18, 15-12) to Nazareth College (18-16).
The Violets began the match strong, taking sets one and two with ease.
NYU made a late set-three push, but couldn't come out with a win.
The Violets were defeated in sets four and five.
"I was pleased with our offense in today's matches, but need to be more consistent throughout the match to come out with a win," Head Coach
Jolie Ward said.
MATCH ONE HIGHLIGHTS:-
Alexis Jackson notched seven kills.

Patricia Stirb totalled two blocks.

Shelby King finished the contest with six kills.
MATCH TWO HIGHLIGHTS:- Jackson finished with 12 kills.

Daryl Mitchell notched 45 assists and 11 digs.

Rayne Ellis totaled 5.5 blocks.
The Violets continue play on day two of the NY Region Challenge on Saturday, October 31, starting at 10:30am against Montclair State University followed by Fredonia State University at 12:30 pm in Rochester, NY.
