The New York University men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Washington University-St. Louis in a University Athletic Association (UAA) game on Friday, October 16, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.The Violets are now 4-9 overall and 0-3 in the UAA, while the Bears improved to 8-2-3, 1-1-1.The teams played to a scoreless first half, with the Bears taking 18 shots to the Violets' two. However, NYU goalkeeper Lucas Doucette made saves on all four of Washington's shots on goal to keep the score 0-0 at halftime.
The Bears broke the deadlock when Chris Rieger scored on a penalty shot at 52:08.
Thomas Hutchings scored Washington's second and third goals, the first at 65:06 after collecting a rebound from a shot by Corey Meehan and skidding it past Doucette. Hutchings' next goal came at 74:11 assisted by Andrew Schmitt.
Ryan Sproule scored the Bears' final goal, tallying against the Violets' replacement in net,
Grant Engel. The score came on a breakaway down the right side at 82:16, assisted by Camillo Haller.
For the contest, Washington had a 33-5 advantage in shots and 9-1 in shots on goal. The Bears also led in corner kicks 9-3. NOTABLES:- Engel made two saves, while Ducette finished with six.
