Violets Lose at Brandeis 92-53

The New York University men's basketball team concluded its 2013-14 regular season with a 92-53 loss to Brandeis University in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest in Waltham, MA, on Sunday, March 2.

The Violets (16-9, 6-8) fell behind early in the game and were never able to take a lead. The Judges (13-12, 5-9) opened the contest on an 11-2 run and never led by less than five points the rest of the way.

Brandeis shot 69.2% from three-point range in the first half to take a 47-30 lead into the break. The team's hot shooting continued over the final 20 minutes, finishing the game at 54.8% (34-62) from the field and 48.3% (14-29) from trey-land.

Evan Kupferberg led the Violets with 11 points and six rebounds. He connected on 5-8 shots from the field.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Max Ralby and Costis Gontikas each had eight points for NYU.

- Ryan Tana and Iyoha Agho contributed seven points each.

- Three Brandeis players scored at least 20 points: Derek Retos (23), Ben Bartoldus (212) and Alex Stoyle (21).
 
 The Violets now await a potential ECAC postseason berth.
