The New York University women's volleyball team defeated Kean University in the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate Championship Tournament on Saturday, November 10, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets (19-14) defeated the Cougars (28-11) by scores of 25-11, 25-19, 28-26, and will face the winner of the tournament's other semifinal between Rutgers-Camden and Elmira College in the Championship Match at 4:00 pm today.
Highlights:
- This is the second consecutive year that NYU has advanced to the ECAC Championship final. In 2011, the Violets fell to Elmira in the finals.
- NYU last won the ECAC Championship in 2008.
- The Violets totaled 45 kills in the match, while Kean registered 30. Both
Vera Shulgina (12) and
Alexandria Mao (10) reached double-digits for NYU.

Hope Bogle had a match-high 22 assists.

Kaylee Schanda was the only player on either team to compile double-digit digs (11).
- NYU trailed 24-22 in the the third set, but rallied for the sweep.
"In the third set, we showed determination and commitment that will hopefully carry over to the championship match," said NYU Head Coach
