New York University completed Rochester University's Rochester Quad on Saturday, October 29. The meet took place at the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center in Rochester, NY, and the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY.

Although the Violets were defeated by Case Western Reserve University (214-150), Carnegie Mellon University (251-117), and host Rochester (194-174), they had strong performances by a number of their swimmers and divers.

Freshman Jerry Crowley followed up his successes last weekend with another impressive showing. He won the  100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.93.

Sophomore Cole Talbott also swam well, coming in a close second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.33. Charlie Wu also had a very close second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.54.

"I'm very pleased with the performances of Crowley and Talbott," said head coach Bob Sorensen. "But overall we have to get back in the pool and work harder."

Diving had a successful weekend, with freshman Austen Blease repeatedly showing his talent. He won the one-meter dive with a score of 273.20 and came in second in the three-meter dive with a score of 255.80.

"For where we are at this time of year, the divers did a really good job," said diving coach Scott Donie. "This is some of our strongest competition, so it looks great moving forward."

The men will get back in the pool November 12 at Wheaton College in Norton, MA.
