University of Rochester Invitational Draws NYU and Case Western Reserve

The Violets look to capitalize on a great start to the season.

The New York University women's swimming & diving team returns to the pool this weekend, when the Violets compete at the University of Rochester Invitational along with Case Western Reserve University on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31.

The Violets are coming off a dominating performance at the season-opening NYU Invitational last Saturday. The Violets overwhelmed the competition, amassing two victories in convincing fashion. NYU topped SUNY New Paltz 95-27 and Stevens Institute of Technology 77-45.

Senior Patricia Beck, the 2009 UAA Swimmer of the Year, posted a winning time of 2:14.53, and helped secure victory for the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.45).

Sophomore diver Kelly Dietz, a transfer from Southern Methodist University, set the one-meter dive school record in her first meet as a Violet. Her score of 274.50 also met an NCAA Division III qualifying standard.

This weekend's meet will start at 6:00 pm on both days. Results will be available on goNYUathletics.com.
