The NYU men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over Kean University on Saturday afternoon, September 20, in Hillside, New Jersey.
Junior James Walkinshaw scored the only goal off a cross from freshman Jon Simos just three minutes into the contest. Walkinshaw managed to put the ball into the lower left hand corner of the net.
Junior Adam Colunga made five saves for NYU in his first start of the season. Kean's Peter-John Falloon recorded just one save as Kean outshot NYU 17-12.
"Colunga was outstanding and (senior) Elliot Marquis led the defense on the field," Violets' head coach Joe Behan said. "We definitely got this win based on our good defense."
NYU is now 3-1-1 this season, while Kean fell to 4-3-1.
