Kaitlyn Read of the New York University women's basketball team was named East Region Player of the Year and First Team All-East Region by D3hoops.com on Tuesday, March 13.

Playing as a graduate student during her final campaign in 2017-18, Read was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. She led NYU in scoring (19.9 - third-highest in program history), assists (5.1) and steals (3.7), while also averaging 5.5 rpg. Her 577 points and 148 assists also set single-season program records. 

This season, Read was a three-time selection to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. The website named her East Region Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-East Region as a freshman, Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All-East Region as a sophomore and Second Team All-East Region as a junior.

The University Park, TX, native has completed her career #2 on NYU's all-time scoring list (1,830), #1 in assists (429) and #2 in steals (400), and will receive the prestigious Jostens Trophy on March 16.
