On Friday, March 5, New York University junior diver Max Norris was selected to compete at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, which are being held at Beloit College in Minneapolis, MN, Wednesday-Saturday, March 17-20.
The Rochester, NY, native has posted NCAA qualifying scores in the one-meter (435.40) and three-meter (449.95) dives this season.
"Max has just been improving all year long," said NYU diving coach Scott Donie. "This selection is the culmination of all of his hard work."
Overall, Norris has had an outstanding season for the Violets. In addition to winning at just about every meet this season, he has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week seven times as a junior, bringing his career total to 16. At the UAA Championships last month, Norris posted top finishes in both diving events and was named the UAA Men's Diver of the Year.
"With 22 of the best divers in the country, anyone really has a chance to take the top spot," added Donie. "At this level, it all comes down to the mental aspect."
