Schneider Earns Academic All-American Honors

Senior Cited as Second-Team Academic All-American

Schneider excelled at NYU both athletically and academically.

Adding a final honor to a career full of accolades, senior cross country/track & field All-American Jesse Schneider has been named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-American College Division by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Schneider was placed on the national ballot after having earned First Team All-Academic honors in District 1.

At the NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships in May, Schneider competed in the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters, capping his four-year career with a seventh-place finish in the 10,000 meters, his fourth overall All-American honor and his first in track & field.

A journalism major in NYU's College of Arts and Science, Schneider earned District 1 Second Team Academic All-America honors last year.

In order to qualify as an Academic All-American, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average while competing in at least half of the team's contests.

In a senior year full of accomplishments, Schneider finished fifth at the 2008 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, and won University Athletic Association (UAA) titles in cross country, indoor 3,000 meters,  outdoor 5,000 meters, and outdoor 10,000 meters.

Schneider also received the NYU Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award and earned UAA All-Academic honors in all three seasons.
