In her current role, Quinn manages the Department's Communications, Events, Marketing, Sports Medicine, and the varsity Strength and Conditioning programs. In addition to her responsibilities as the Senior Women’s Administrator supervising all women’s varsity programs, she also oversees men’s basketball.
During Quinn’s senior administrative tenure, she has directed all aspects of the management of NYU’s 23 varsity intercollegiate athletic programs for men and women. For nearly 20 years, Quinn also oversaw operations for the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame and coordinated all development, fundraising, and alumni relations events, including the annual NYU Golf Outing, postseason competitions, and special events. She imagined and spearheaded NYU’s NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) award-winning “Education, Service and Sport” initiative (TeamNYUGlobal), which sent varsity teams across NYU’s global network for educational, volunteer service, and competitive opportunities. Her implementation and coordination of the Department’s varsity-related assessment efforts earned a NASPA Excellence Gold Award.
Quinn, who continues to serve on various NYU-wide committees, assisted with NYU’s inaugural NYU Shanghai admissions efforts and served on the Division of Student Affairs’ year-long Communications and Connections committee. She also serves on the University Athletic Association (UAA) Delegates and Athletic Administrator’s Advisory committees.
Quinn began her journey with NYU in 1981 as a student-athlete, playing for the Violets' women's basketball team for four years. She distinguished herself as the first female basketball player from the Violets to achieve 1,000 points and earned her place in NYU’s Hall of Fame in 1993.
Earning a dual baccalaureate degree with honors in Economics and Metropolitan Studies from NYU, Quinn was also a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the economics honor society. She earned a master’s degree in Finance and Management from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service and the Stern School of Business. Her master’s thesis specialized in health care in low-income neighborhoods of the South Bronx and included special research for the United Hospital Fund.
After graduating, Quinn served two seasons as an assistant coach before becoming head coach in 1987. She went on to direct the women’s basketball program for 21 seasons (1987-2008), with her teams compiling a 453-127 (.781) overall record. During her tenure, the Violets reached the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament 13 times and made postseason appearances in 20 of her 21 seasons. In 1996-97, Quinn’s Violets won the Division III National Championship, while her 1995-96 and 2006-07 squads reached the Final Four.
All told, Quinn captured 14 Coach of the Year awards during her distinguished career. In 1998, she received the Ron Anderson Sportsmanship Award from the Metropolitan Collegiate Officials’ Association for her “display of the true essence of sport and competition.”
A native of Bay Shore, NY, and a Manhattan resident, Quinn is one of six children (she has four brothers and one sister) of James and Therese.
